STEP 1 Kigae (changing into formal dress)
A symbol of entering a new stage of growth — putting on formal attire to learn presentation and etiquette.

STEP 2 Prayer bell
The child drops a five-yen coin (which sounds like "en" — connection), rings the prayer bell, claps twice, and makes a sincere wish.

STEP 3 O-mikuji (sacred fortune slip)
Echoing the Seven Lucky Gods of Japan — the child picks one of seven fortune slips, each representing a different blessing and virtue.

Everyone gathers for a portrait — a keepsake of this important moment in your child's growth.
